Saint Simeon the God-Receiver is an important figure in the Orthodox Church, as he was one of the 72 translators of the Old Testament in the Septuagint translation. Simeon is referred to as the God-Receiver, meaning “the one who received God,” because he had the honor of holding Christ in his arms. The memory of Saint Simeon is particularly celebrated and is associated with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord, one of the major feasts of the Church.
